Dr. Tompkins presentation “A Comprehensive Review of a Pharmabiotic Composition in the Management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome in a Chinese Population” is a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical studies conducted in China between 2008 and 2018 using the products Medilac-S (adult) and Medilac-Vita (children) also known as IBacilluS+ (Enterococcus faecium R0026and Bacillus subtilis R0179)1. These products were used in different applications including the management of symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In a systematic review of the literature, more than 100 clinical studies have been identified that described a positive outcome, in terms of clinical efficacy in patients with IBS using these formulations. Dr. Tompkins presentation will focus on the strength of the clinical evidence as well as make recommendations of the appropriate dose, duration of treatment, age group and the realistic expectations of improvement for the three different types and symptoms of IBS.
