Lallemand Health Solutions Achieves ISO 14001 Certification for its Saint-Simon Plant
Mirabel, Canada, January 6, 2025 – The French bacteria production plant located in Saint-Simon (Aurillac) of Lallemand Health Solutions has just obtained ISO 14001 certification, thus confirming the integration of environmental concerns into its daily activities while maintaining its operational imperatives.
The ISO 14001 standard defines the requirements and recommendations for the implementation of an environmental management system. For the Saint-Simon plant, this represents the recognition and validation of its environmental development plan by an international standardization institution.
Stephan Griffoulière, Vice President of Operations at Lallemand Health Solutions, emphasizes: “This is an important achievement, and we would like to thank all our employees for implementing our ambitious plan that includes concrete actions for water, waste, and energy management, and much more. This plan, documented and supported by the definition and regular monitoring of performance indicators, illustrates our company’s commitment to developing and affirming its environmental responsibility. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we receive this important recognition for one of our sites, which validates our global approach to the continuous improvement of our practices applicable to all our sites.”
The Saint-Simon plant has already received the Ecovadis label and passed the SMETA 2-pillar audit in 2024, confirming compliance with social issues such as labor standards, and employee health and safety.
Globally, Lallemand integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values into its business conduct. The company has also recently published an update of its sustainability progress report detailing its approach.
The Saint-Simon plant is one of the three bacteria production plants of Lallemand Health Solutions, a global leader in the production of probiotic dietary supplements for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries. In addition to producing over 80 million probiotic sachets annually, the plant also produces cultures for the food industry and the oenology sector.
Lallemand Health Solutions, a business unit of Lallemand, develops, produces, and markets probiotic bacteria and yeasts used by millions of people worldwide, providing benefits for gastrointestinal, immune, mental, women’s, skin, oral, metabolic health, and for active people.
ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, brings together experts from around the world to define best practices to follow, from the manufacture of goods to management processes. ISO is one of the oldest international non-governmental organizations. The ISO 14001 standard defines the requirements for an environmental management system (EMS).
