Dedicated probiotics for women’s health, right for her
Women have specific health and wellbeing issues, partly related to their genetics and hormonal changes all through their life. These have repercussions on their immunity, mood, digestive health etc. And what have these issues in common? They can all be linked to endogenous microflora.
The benefits of probiotics to support women’s health are increasingly recognised, mainly due to their ability to maintain and restore digestive and vaginal microflora balance, with positive consequences on feminine health as well as on digestive health, occasional stress or natural defenses.
Based on a rich strain bank and in-depth knowledge of probiotics modes of actions and clinical research, Lallemand Health Solutions is offering a unique range of probiotic strains to be formulated into adapted formats to address specific issues of women’s health.
Lactobacilli: THE GATEKEEPERS OF FEMININE HEALTH
The female vaginal microflora is a rich and complex ecosystem, mainly comprised of Lactobacilli. They support the vaginal environment and health.
Every woman encounters specific health and well-being issues according to her life style, physiology, hormonal cycles or stage in life.
Vaginal balance is fragile and many internal or external factors can affect this balance:
Gut health, immunity, mood balance, oral health, intimate health. All have been linked by scientists to endogenous microbiota.
Thanks to their beneficial action upon the gut or vaginal microbiota, specific probiotics can help each woman at every stage of her life, from puberty to menopause.
Vaginal microflora imbalance is caused by changes in the amount of certain types of microorganisms in the vaginal environment. It is the most common reason for occasional vaginal discomfort in women aged 15 to 44.
Bacterial vaginosis
Bacterial vaginosis is defined as a vaginal dysbiosis characterized by a decrease in concentration of Lactobacilli in the vagina and an increase in concentration of anaerobic bacteria such as Gardnerella vaginalis, Atopobium vaginae, Mycoplasma hominis, Prevotella, Porphyromonas.
Candidiasis
Candidiasis is characterized by an overgrowth of yeast known as Candida such as Candida albicans.
3 out of 4 women will have an imbalance with a Candida albicans prominent microflora at some point in their life. Proper Candida albicans balance is an indicator of healthy vaginal microbiota.
ROSELLA is a unique strain isolated from a healthy vaginal flora with full mechanistic and clinical evidence of efficacy on a wide spectrum of benefits, from helping to maintain proper vaginal balance, including from oral intake, to being used for recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis (rVVC).
L. plantarum ROSELLA is L. plantarum P17630 (Proge P17630®), licensed from PROGE FARM®, Italy.
Urinary Tract discomfort
- >50% of women will have at least one occasional urinary tract discomfort at some point in her life.
- Women experience urinary tract discomfort up to 30 times more often than men.
- Reccurence: 4 in 10 women who experience urinary tract discomfort will experience another within six months.
How can probiotics help?
Lactobacilli modes of action to help rebalance the vaginal microflora and reduce occasional discomfort. Lactobacilli probiotics, which have a positive effect on endogenous microflora could thus help support the vaginal microflora and protect against bacteria.
